Leadership Development

The Borrego Springs Rotary Club invests in youth through programs that build leadership, confidence, and a commitment to service. By supporting student-led initiatives, leadership training, and opportunities for personal growth, these efforts help prepare the next generation to contribute meaningfully to their community.

INTERACT

The Interact Club at Borrego Springs High School is a student-led service organization sponsored by our Rotary Club. It empowers students ages 12 to 18 to develop leadership skills, integrity and a commitment to giving back through active participation in community service.

The Club organizes and runs a wide variety of service projects and volunteer activities during each school year, such as the Christmas Toy Drive, assistance and clean up at community events, etc. Students learn to organize and work as teams while developing friendships and a sense of responsibility. The Borrego Springs community also benefits from the Club’s projects, which address local needs and community wellbeing. Corie Loera volunteers her time and has run this program for years.

RYLA

Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is an intensive leadership experience organized by Rotary clubs where young people can develop leadership skills while having fun and making connections. It helps students become dynamic leaders in their school or community. Our Club nominates and pays expenses of students to attend RYLA events organized by our District in southern California.

Miss Borrego Springs Program

The pageant is the first big event in the Miss Borrego Springs program each season. It is not a beauty pageant; it is about young ladies who are willing to donate their time and energy to represent the Borrego Springs community at a variety of civic and business events throughout the year.

The pageant helps provide life skills for the young ladies in our community such as public speaking, interviewing, presenting and demonstrating the meaning and importance of community service. It helps each of them grow as a person. It is important to help, support and empower our young ladies to be strong and confident women.

LEAD

Rotary District 5340 organizes a leadership and personal development program for 8th grade students. The program aims to enhance leadership skills, ethical responsibility and communication abilities. Our Club sponsored two students to attend this year. The program was a two-day camp at Cuyamaca Outdoor School.
