International Projects
Rotary International is one of the largest worldwide nonprofit organizations. Our club is one of 45,000 Rotary clubs. Worldwide these clubs include 1.2 million members. Individual members contribute to projects throughout the world through donations to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Rotary members contribute their skills, expertise, and resources to help solve some of the world’s toughest problems. From providing clean water to promoting peace worldwide, Rotary Foundation grants bring service project ideas to life.
Last year, $273 million was awarded for global service initiatives. District grants fund small-scale, short-term activities that address needs in our community and communities abroad. Last year 468 District grants amounting to $29 million were funded. Our club received one of those grants.
Orphanage In Mexicali

For many years our Club has provided support to an orphanage in Mexicali, Mexico that is overseen by Ernie Loza. We have provided funding to help build the orphanage, provided furniture so kids would have beds, tables, etc. and have provided funding for operational expenses. The orphanage has helped many parentless children grow up and develop into self-sufficient, productive citizens. The orphanage is an on-going, core service of our Rotary club.
End Polio Now

The eradication of polio is one of the Rotary International Foundation’s longest standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we help immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9% worldwide. As a core service our Borrego Springs Club contributes to this initiative of Rotary International every year.
